Army Archerd worked as an entertainment reporter and writer for the Daily Variety for over 50 years. He passed away yesterday at age 87 from mesothelioma (a rare form of cancer associated with asbestos exposure). His cancer may be the result of asbestos exposure while serving in the Navy during WWII.
