About MesoRC and Sokolove Law

The Mesothelioma Resource Center (MesoRC) is a resource for patients and families struggling with mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.  MesoRC’s mission has never been more pertinent than it is today, as thousands of newly diagnosed victims strive to cope with these devastating diseases.

MesoRC has since served as a community of support – a place where victims can meet and talk with others who share their burden and where they can turn to current news, information, resources and support.

MesoRC is part of Sokolove Law, LLC who has been reinventing how people obtain legal services for over 30 years. Our continuing mission is equality of access, regardless of ethnicity or income, and superior quality of representation and service within our civil justice system.

    Five years ago, my father was diagnosed with Pulmonary Fibrosis. It is scar tissue inside the lungs. How is this different from Mesothelioma? He was a carpenter all his life, working around asbestos, cement, dust, etc. The Dr. says there is nothing they can do for him. I started giving him Vit E capsules five years ago, and he made some improvement. Vit E is great for clearing up scar tissue inside and outside the body.

    Also, do you know if Pulmonary Fibrosis or Mesothelioma is hereditary?

    I’m sorry to hear of your father’s diagnosis. As the social worker here I speak to both Mesothelioma victims and people with other asbestos related illnesses. My training is in social work and not as a medical provider, so I am unable to answer your medical question specifically, but I can make some suggestions. Contact a hospital/clinic that specializes in treatment of asbestos related diseases for more information and another opinion. We have a list on our site or contact me directly for additional info. Also, it would be important to learn as much as you can about his diagnosis and other asbestos related illnesses (including meso) and explore treatment options.     I lived in Coalinga California from 1958 to 1970. During that time Johns-Manville operated a large asbestos mine in the hills ajacent to Coalinga and had a plant in town that processed the mineral for transfer to other plants. As a kid I can remember the stuff blowing around in the gutters of town year round. There was a “waste” pile in back of the plant where a lot of kids like me used to play in th fluffy stuff. My last visit to Coalinga, you can still make out the mine on the hillside near town.

    My Father died from mesothelioma in 2002. We have a law firm respesenting his estate.
    For the last 7 years we’ve signed a lot of papers for compensation yet my family has received nothing.

    I wanted to know if anyone out there who has been awarded compensation in the last 8 years has actually been paid anything once the person involved has passed away.

    My family is more than frustrated by the legal movement of lawyers on Both sides. Our so-called huge firm cannot even collect 100 dollars from a firm that was supposedly bankrupt.

    I see you’re trying to give people information. Compensation is important but you need to prepare people for the fact that these companies will do Everything in their power not to pay out any monies. We’ve waited a total of 8 years so far. 8 years of legal setllements with no follow through. 8 years of empty promises.

    If anyone out there has received any payment please let us know. At least it would signal something is happening somewhere. Definitely not in New York City.

    Hi, Matthew, Do you have the same law firm, this one? I too would like to hear from anyone that has received any compensation? I Thought we had waited along time, It will be two years, this summer since my Mother died, so I guess that is better than eight years! I have heard that they have collected settlements, but have not seen any! This is from Okla.
