Asbestos Sickens Residents (VIDEO)

When the Greenfield Mobile Home Estates clubhouse went under construction in 2004, residents knew there was a problem. They have since found that they were being exposed to dangerous asbestos fibers and dust, which have been linked to diseases such as Asbestosis and Mesothelioma, a deadly asbestos-related lung cancer.

Asbestos in Everyday Life

CNN recently featured a short video on their morning news segment about asbestos in everyday life. In the video, a 35-year-old woman talks about her struggle with mesothelioma.

The video also addresses the asbestos found in children’s toys, namely the CSI fingerprinting kit. (See ADAO Tests Consumer Products for Asbesots) Since the toy company has not recalled the product, some entities have taken matters into their own hands; Connecticut has issued a recall of the toy, and CBS (who licensed the toy) believes that Planet Toy should recall the kit.

Jim Sokolove Discussing Mesothelioma on ‘The Smart Consumer’

Attorney Jim Sokolove was interviewed for PBS’ “The Smart Consumer” on a piece dealing with malignant mesothelioma, a deadly, asbestos-caused illness. Talking with host Tore Dietrich, Sokolove discussed the origins of mesothelioma, its warnings signs, and those at the highest risk for contracting the illness. ‘Dying to Live’ Premiere

While documenting his own struggles with heart disease and surgery, director Ben Mittleman struggled with his wife’s Mesothelioma diagnosis and his mother’s battle with colon cancer. His resulting documentary, Dying to Live, “chronicles the testing of a man’s heart and the processing of answers found in sorrow.” The film deals with love, loss, life, and the hardships and triumphs that accompany each of these.

Dying to Live has received much acclaim and has been hailed as an “extraordinarily powerful and deeply touching film with a sense of a raw and exposed truth.” The film premieres in mid-march in
