My Father died in 2001 from Meso. I support anyone who is fighting the battle. In 2000, he was the American Cancer Society advocate of the year for his work in clinical trials. Thank you for all that you are doing.
My best friend passed a little over a year ago with Mesothelioma. I am very glad to be able to donate by becoming a member.
This disease devastated my family when at 48, my husband came down with Mesothelioma and died 3 months later. I pray no other family will have to suffer this way.
I am very interested in this site. . . My husband is an insulator.
My father suffered from a disease like this before it was given a name. The surgeon did remove asbestos from his lung, he never worked again, and he was always short of breath until his death when his lungs would hold oxygen no longer. We have to protect these ship-builders NOW!
My life has never been the same after I lost my husband to mesothelioma. Hopefully, a cure will be found so that others in the future won't have to suffer from this horrible disease.
Thankful to still be here.
My father passed away from mesothelioma at the age of 58 in 1999. It was just devastating to watch him whither away to nothing and eventually die. My mother and I took care of him during this time. No one should have to live or die in this manner.
My dad was just diagnosed with Mesothelioma and I would like to know more about what we're facing as far as symptoms, ways to make him more comfortable, etc.
I welcome all inspirational from all MesoRC members.
My husband was misdiagnosed with stomach cancer. We found out recently that it is in fact, Mesothelioma. I would like help of any and all kinds. Our living expenses are about spent. I need to pay my rent and feed our family, which includes an eight year old. Please help.
I am very thankful that this opportunity is available for people like me who are suffering.
I would like to be updated on most recent medical and legal reports.
I am interested in learning more about mesothelioma
I thank whoever put together this web site, a fantastic idea for a good cause.
My dad died of meso about 2 years ago. He fought hard even though he knew he wouldn't win. No one could correctly diagnose the disease until it was too late. The pain of losing my dad to this horrific disease will remain with me for the rest of my life. God bless the families going through this...give them strength.
I want to be able to have access to research because I feel like I have been exposed to asbestos in my lifetime, but it is so hard to prove how long and what the exposure was.
My husband was exposed to asbestos through his work, in 1989. Of course when we had to move, so he could keep his job, both mine and his medical records were "lost" in the mail. Now he has constant pain due to calcification of the plurea. Anger is a big part of my life.
I am contacting you to see what my rights are.
Have just been diagnosed with Pleural Meso. Please advise of any treatment possibilities.
Glad to get this website. Many family members had mesothelioma and asbestosis.
My beloved husband passed away with mesothelioma in 1986, and his sons and I still grieve his loss.
Our prayers are with any family that has to suffer with cancer
I was diagnosed in dec. of 2005 with peritoneal meso. Since then, ive had 3 surgeries and 6 rounds of chemo. Im in remission and have been since march 2006. I want to thank the meso community everywhere for being such an important part of my treatment and life. I love you all, and we WILL beat this!
Your foundation is a great source for information for families seeking help. May you continue to be in existence.
This is a devastating disease, not only for the victim, but also for the family. Watching a loved one suffer because of mesothelioma is traumatizing mentally, physically, and emotionally. . . and those feelings will never leave our lives.
I wish there were more help like this
I am horrified at the lives that have been effected by this disease and the people who have died. I pray as we continue to create business and use products that we will consider all precautions and take them seriously.
Thank you for this website and your donation. We lost my father in July 2007 to mesothelioma, only 4 mo. after the diagnosis. Your website has provided us with accurate information about this rare cancer.
Praying that there will be a cure. I lost my husband nearly 5 years ago.
Thank you so very much for this invaluable website. I only wish it would have been available when my Dad was going through this absolutely horrendous disease for ten months. I contribute to MSKCC in his name.
I am taking a few moments to fill out this page because it is definitely worth a few minutes of my day to complete this form if your organization is going to be generous enough to make a donation. Especially when it's towards a cause to help fight a disease that took my grandfather away.
mesothelioma is the ugliest word of our time..so unfair when a person spends their life working for a living for that very living being the cost of their life and lives of the family and friends
I lost my Dad to this Horrible disease on Memorial Day. We need to find a way to band all use of Asbestos so no one else will suffer in the future.
I think its absolutely wonderful that Many of these types of organizations exist... Back when i was diagnosed I did not have the required support & awareness, Mesothelioma Resource Center Provides. Keep up the great work....
My father-in-law passed away in February 08 of this disease. It was such a horrible way to die and I hope with research you can help to find a cure so other families don't have to see their loved ones suffer so much. Thank You!
This is a very painful death. Our mother was a very good person, and should not have died this way, because of being a hard worker, which she did her whole life.
My husband dealt with this disease for 18 months. Even though it was discovered early, his surgery was 2 months after diagnosed, his cancer returned twice - the last time in his spinal fluid. This is a devastating disease, and I thank you for what you are doing. I have already donated to B/W myself also.
Thank you so much for this opportunity to share in a community of fighting this disease. My mom never smoked, and we could not connect any exposure to asbestos, and yet she fought a hard battle against this disease. Thank you again for helping us be involved.
My mother died of mesothelioma on March 16, 2001. She lived with me the last 18 mo. so I saw first hand what this terrible cancer did to her and to my family. We spent over a month in Boston in order for her to see the doctors, have surgery and then fly back across country to her home in Oregon. Brigham and Women's Hospital is a wonderful place if you have to use it. Please continue to fight this terrible disease.
With many thanks to James Sokolove for his firms donation towards eliminating asbestos cancer in all of its' forms, may God Bless this work!
Is there anything available in the form of tests that I should consider, or any possible prevention treatments? This has caused me considerable concern since the links between asbestos and cancer were first brought to light in the 1970's
A close family member was just diagnosed yesterday with mesothelioma and we are interested in any an all current and future information so that we can better understand. I want to be able to provide support in any way possible. At this point, we are grief stricken and in shock. Thank you in advance for help and information.
Lost my wife with Mesothellioma, 13 years ago and I have pleural plank and I hope we can find the cure for that cancer
My father-in-law is in England and has been diagnosed with Asbestos in his lungs. He has had numerous infections since this diagnosis and they don't seem to be getting rid of the infection. He is in desperate need of a hip replacement surgery but they won't do that until he is rid of the lung infection. Do you have any treatments or help that I may find out about? I am trying to gather as much information as possible to see if there is anything we can possibly do.
My father worked for a company for over 20 yrs... My mother died a few years back and I wonder if she didnt die from the abesotos from that factory.. Then last year my father died... My biggest fear is Im having trouble with my left lung and massive weight loss Im afraid Im fallin in their foot steps...I go for the tests on Monday is the beginning.. And Im very scared...
The love of my life has been diagnosed w/ mesothelioma and I'm trying to learn as much as I can to be able to assist him. He lives in another state & I'm wanting to get info for doctors & treatment alternatives for his area.
Thank you for having this web site so that I can become more educated on this disease.
I lost my husband in 2004 because of what this type of cancer has done to lots of families now my children have no father to help guide them in their growing years...please fine a cure for this horrible type of cancer so that others won't have to live through this type of destruction in their family.
My dad passed away of mesothelioma over two and a half years ago when he had this and after there was not alot of reports on this subject so I am appreciative of anything that you are doing to take up this cause.
Thanks for helping so many people
What a great idea to have this chat room with such an important main theme. My dad died recently with this cursed disease. He was 89 and worked the ship yards in Tacoma early 40s and developed black lung from the exposure to asbestos. He tried to get information about health settlement but could not get any cooperation from the sources he contacted.
Thanks for the donation. I hope it helps someone.
I would like to know more about the cancer and if others are going through the same medicals problems from exposure to asbestosis.
I think this is a very wonderful thing that you are doing, it lets us know, that we are not alone. Thank you!
Mesothelioma was first discovered two years ago at the Veterans Hospital in Palo Alto, California. My doctor is watching this condition but I am not being treated in any way. I suppose it's just a matter of time. I want to thank you for the honor of becoming a charter member and I promise to do all I can to help with this endeavor.
I was an Asbestos worker for twelve years. It has taken a toll on my body. I am glad your here for me and others who have experienced the horrors of Asbestos related diseases.
Thank you for this site, now Ii feel I have a place to get some good info, and know im not the only one dealing with this..
I just hope all the people that are suffering from this disease are helped with the research that is being accomplished through the support coming from the Mesothelioma Resource Center.
This Site is a Wonderful Resource of Information. God Bless Everyone and there Family that this Horrible Disease has Touched.
I am a surviving son of a victim to mesothelioma. I want to keep myself informed of current research and treatments. I have always been concerned whether I was ever exposed to this disease through contact with my father throughout our lives together. He was certainly unaware of the dangers of the hazzards at his place of employment. This is the start of, what I believe to be a great place to share stories and find comfort in all whom are affected by this devistating disease.
I am the wife of a victim of this terrible disease, and would like to communicate with other women in my situation.
I have been looking for info on this for over 12 years and this site is very informative. Thank you for any info that you can send to me.
Thank you. Until this terrible disease changes an entire family forever, one cannot fathom the devastation caused by exposure to asbestos. The work of the Meso RC Community is critical to the development of effective treatments, none of which were available when my husband, an Episcopal clergyman, was diagnosed.
I am a 18 month survivor in good health-- please know that there is hope!!! Seek aggressive treatment, and remember that a treatment can't work unless you try it!!! Fight, fight, fight, for your life and to get asbestos banned in North America, and then the world.
My son was only twenty seven when he was taken home to be with the lord from this terrible cancer. His pain was so great it was almost unbearable to watch him suffer the way he did. He was such a handsome and fun-loving person and loved to ride his harley davidson once he got so weak and lost so much weight and got so weak and he was on all kinds of pain meds. he could't ride it just broke his will & his sprit. It broke mine to and the rest of my family he was the tie that binded and now everything has changed. The corporations he worked for should be held more accountable because they didn't provide protective clothing and masks for them to wear when working in asbestoes. He was diagnosed in feburary and he passed in october but in that time he suffered more and went thru more hell than most of us will ever know between the pain the chemo, the weight loss and the twisting of his body at the end it was hard to keep a smile on your face but you try to get him so that he doesn't see it in your face and it's hard but then he says to mom i don't won't to die and thats when your heart just bursts because you have to lie to him and tell him that everything is going to be allright and you know it's not. So thats my story my i knem it is over but i'll see him again in heaven and he will be happy and riding with the wind.
My father was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in late September 2007. He was exposed while working in the ship building industry. He died in my arms at home on Christmas Eve. Dad was a truly good person, donating his time and money to many church and charitable organizations. On top of being "Dad", he was my best friend. I will miss him dearly every day for the rest of my life.
This is such a terrible disease. It makes for a long and hard death. My Dad suffered alot before the end. A site like this could be a real help to other people still dealing with this disease.
I just wanted to let you guys know that I thank you so much for posting this blog. This man is my grandfather and I am so happy that he received justice! I have seen a man who was once strong and never had a illness in his life go into a weak, feeble man who is depressed.
Again, thank you for your support. Maybe with more cases like this all people with mesothelioma can receive justice!
I am witting this in remembrance of my Daddy who died Aug. 2007. Daddy was always a very healthy man. His first major illness came late in life, when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. He went through the treatment and was given a clean bill of health. On his last appointment his Doctor told him "Mr. Brown you won't die of cancer". I'am sure he meant prostate cancer. Little did any of us know that seven years later he would face another kind of cancer. Daddy was to have a surgical procedure on his right arm in May 2007. During his pre op, they heard what they thought might be a problem. There was fluid in the lung. After the fluid was drawn three times, they also did a biopsy. The mass was found outside the lung in the chest wall. I'll never forget, as long as I live, the look on his face when he was told the mass was inoperable. He always thought he could beat anything. Not this! Daddy lost his battle against this disease a little every day. Every day his body grew weaker as his breathing became more labored. Daddy told us he was not ready to leave his family. He also told us many times how much he loved us. When we could no longer keep Daddy comfortable at home, we placed him in the loving care of Hospice of the Piedmont. Seven days later Aug. 2007 he went to be with his Lord and Savior. To all that are suffering from this disease, and there caregivers, God be with you.
I thank you for your efforts to help victims and families with this dreadful disease. I lost my Dad in his prime health years-he had never been sick before. How awful it was to witness the decline and devastation of his health. I hope this site can help others and I'm glad to be of help also.
Thanks for the donation. It's a worthy cause.
ALL THIS ASBESTOS MATERIAL MUST BE STOPPED. CERTAINLY THERE ARE OTHER PRODUCTS THAT CAN BE USED IN PLACE OF THIS DEADLY PRODUCT.
Mesothelioma is a terrible disease. I watched my husband suffer for 2 years before he passed on. It began with what the Dr. thought was pneumonia with the fluid in the lungs. It was very hard to get the diagnosis and when it finally came we were given no hope. He did go through chemotherapy, but to no avail. The agonies that he went through and what I and our children experienced from it still haunts me. His exposure was from being in the Navy and working in the boiler rooms. He gave his life for this country just not in a war. I hope for others there will be a cure found. Asbestos definitely left it's mark on this family.
My mother died on Dec. 07, 2004. She was 59. My mother never smoked or drank, she took vitamins and was very active. Then came the Mesothelioma. I have never seen anyone suffer so much. I hope someone finds a cure or can find a way to at least ease the suffering.
I am here to share my story, and experience. Get and give any information that may help or be of great use to someone else dealing with mesothelioma or has a family member with mesothelioma. As you know when a loved one goes through this we all go through this. and it is very important to share your experiences with someone and hear others stories so that you may know that you are not alone in this and others do feel your pain and are taking it one day at a time just like you.
My father was a very young, active, and healthy 85 year old man who continued to amaze everyone in his community by still working full time as a plumber as well as fishing, hunting and various other hobbies. Sadly, after 8 months of attempting to recover from what we were told was pneumonia, he was diagnosed with mesothelioma and suffered greatly for the next 3 weeks before losing his battle. Even at 85 years of age he had a lot of life left in him until this disease took control. How sad that such harmful materials are STILL BEING USED in this country and the world.
I think this is a wonderful website and your continued support for those who are suffering with Mesothelioma and their loved ones is commendable.
I am a Christian I am praying for everyone with this problems may God bless everyone.
I am a widow who's husband died from exposure to asbestos, in the Marine corp. In the end, he had such pain in his right lung side I know it was Mesothelioma, he did not want to have an x-ray, he had been sick for nine years, and was in the process of dying, at that point. After the pain it was about 3 months and he died. This whole asbestos life affected us, looking back for about 40 years. The physical part of life was over.
I just loss my dad 2 months ago from this terrible disease. He was diagnosed in May 2, 2007 and passed away on July 5th, 2007. We hardly had time to accept the fact he was sick before he was gone. The loss is so fresh and so hard to deal with. I feel for anyone who has this disease or knows of someone who is dealing with it. My prayers go out to you all. My dad was so courageous with his short battle of this type of cancer. I just want him back with us so badly. I miss him so.
Very generous of you to make this donation in my Father's name, it is a humbling and sad experience to go through.
What a great idea. If only such a resource had been available to us as my husband was suffering. Thank you for continuing with this project.
My father passed away Nov. 2, 2005. He was in the navy in the early 60's. He also was a brick layer and eventually sold underground equipment for most of his life. This was so unfair. I am very sad and very very angry. The government is to blame. People also need to know NOT to file class action suits. They need to get a private attorney to get the funds they truly deserve. Thank you.
My husband has pulmonary fibrosis, we were told in 8-22-05, we have been going to a transplant clinic so that he might get a lung transplant, they told us about 2 yrs he would have to have new lungs, would be on oxygen before long, it seems like ever dr tells us something usually different all the time, he is 54 now, has trouble breathing, he was told if he gets on oxygen he will not ever get off of it so he is scared of that, his oxygen level usually runs around 90 then drops down to 86 are 87, I sure hope they find a cure this all of this fibrosis. Thank you so much for all you are doing to help.
My grandmother was contaminated by washing my grandfather's clothes worn at work in the shipyards. My father got his cancer from working for the local school district as a custodian/engineer in and around boilers.
THIS HORRIBLE ILLNESS TOOK AWAY MY MOTHER FROM ALL OF US AND 2+ YEARS WE STILL DO NOT HAVE A CLUE WHERE THIS HORRIBLE SICKNESS CAME FROM.† WITH LOVING PRAYERS AND THOUGHTS EVERY DAY, LOVE AND MISS MY MOTHER MORE THAN WORDS COULD EVEN SAY.
At 62 years old, I have severe COPD. I spent 17 years washing my husband's work clothes (He worked at Union Carbide and other chemical plants in the Texas City, Texas area) He died from Asbestos Cancer of the lungs. I have had this COPD problem for 8-10 years and the medical community/the doctors that I go to will not discuss the possibility that it could be related. I would greatly appreciate an opinion or any information you could give me on this subject.
I have fluid in sack around my lungs with some spots of calcification. I get ex-rayed once a year. I am 73 and playing the waiting game.
I am concerned about the non treatment that my father has not gotten as a result of his asbestos illness. I have been told that the companies that were paying for the asbestos illness are all in bankruptcy. How do I get help for my father who has this illness? I am frustrated and I would like to know what the rights are.
MY PULMONARY DOCTOR SAYS THAT HE BELIEVES THAT ASBESTOS HAS CAUSED MY LUNGS TO GET WORSE.
My father just recently died from this awful disease. I just want any and everyone whose family member that has this disease to love your family member at all times, b/c tomorrow is not promised.
It is good to know their is a place to get information about asbestos. If I have plueral thickening in the lungs, how long should it be before I should expect Mesothelioma to begin developing?
This is a terrible disease! I watched my husband die a slow horrible death and I think the disease came from working at General Dynamics all those years.
My dad died in April of 2007 from meso. We believe he contracted the asbestos fibers while serving in the Navy and working in the engine room where all the valves and steam pipes were wrapped w/asbestos. He faced and overcame many obstacles in his life. Mesothelioma was not one of them although he fought to remain with his family to the very end. My promise to my dad and to myself was that his death would not be in vain. I still see the pain in his eyes and hear the hum of the oxygen machine as he gasps and gurgles. I still hear him begging for someone to help him as he faced his final few days. But I also still hear him telling him how much he loves his baby girl. This is my way of helping him and helping myself trying to heal the hole in my heart that only seems to get bigger with the passing of time. Asbestos needs to be banned and people need to be aware. Thank you for anything you are doing to help put an end to this insidious disease.
I AM A RETIRED NAVY VETERN AND SERVED 37 YARS OFF AND ON ABOURD NAVYSHIPS. THE FIRST TEN YEARS WAS IN THE EMGINE ROOM. I JUST FOUND OUT THIS YEAY MY LUNGS WERE AFFECTED. MY DOCTOR (GA LUNG CENTER) PLACED ME IN O2 AND HAVE BEEN MISERABLE EVER SINCE.
My husband was diagnosed with Mesothelioma in November of 2006. He died on January 30th, 2007. We did not have time to research the disease and cures. He left behind a wife of 25 years, 2 sons, age 23 and age 21. He would have been a Grandpa in November of 2007. We miss him.
I have developed extreme C.O.P.D. from many years in the Automotive Brake Repair field. Though I do not have Meso I have only 30% lung capacity, from working with Asbestos.
I miss my Father. I'll always be grateful for the time I was able to know, and grow with him. I hope he is at peace, and knows how much I love him. PS. His grandson that was born a couple of years after his death still ask's about his Granddad, and would have loved to have known him! It's really sad that he left us the way he did!
I'm very glad & thankful to know that people care others even though they have never met each other. May God Bless everyone and their families.
I've just been diagnosed a few months ago. Thank you for all your support and understanding.
What a wonderful site to help people with the knowledge & support they will receive here. Thank you for sending the invitation to join even though I did not qualify for the class action when I had lived for 15 yrs in an apartment bldg in Shreveport, La. that was 12 stories tall & each ceiling of each apt was "asbestos".
I was exposed to Asbestos about 30 years ago. Today I am sick from working with a company that manufactured brakes and brake pads for automobiles. I am in need of a doctor that specializes in the treatment of asbestos exposure and the affects by mesothelioma. Thank you.
I would love to know more about this dreadful disease. My father passed away from this awful disease just a few after receiving his diagnosis. I would just like to be able to view how others (both patients and family) are dealing with this awful disease.
I think this is a fine idea for people that think they have it and have not been tested yet.
