Asbestos Companies
Over the years, certain jobs and work environments have become associated with asbestos-related diseases more than others. Evidence shows that some companies that used asbestos in construction knew the truth about the dangers of asbestos, but hid it from their employees.
Jobs in the mechanical, construction, and ship building industries are most often linked to asbestos exposure. Jobs in these industries include plumbers, electricians, roofers, pipe fitters, sheet metal workers, masons, carpenters, drywallers, painters, tile setters, plasterers, insulators, joiners and common construction laborers. This list of industries and jobs is not exhaustive.
Several major corporations have become associated with asbestos exposure over the years. One of those asbestos companies is the Manville Corporation, formerly known as the Johns-Manville Corporation. Mesothelioma is also associated with asbestos exposure in the navy. Other companies include Amatex, Carey-Canada, Celotex, National Gypsum, Standard Insulation, Unarco, and UNR Industries. Three other well-known asbestos companies are W.R. Grace, a construction materials and chemical company, Federal Mogul, an auto parts manufacturing firm, and Halliburton, a supplier of products to the gas and oil industry.
