We’ll call you at the phone number you provide. In addition, a dedicated Case Manager will send a follow-up e-mail, to help you begin the process by contacting him/her directly.
If you or a loved one has been diagnosed with mesothelioma, lung cancer or another asbestos-related disease, we’ll assign you a Case Manager specifically trained to assist victims of asbestos exposure. He/she will be available to answer your questions about working with Sokolove Law, a national mesothelioma law firm.
Once you’re familiar with the process, your Case Manager will ask you a series of questions regarding your potential claim. It may be helpful to have access to the following:
- Medical records with diagnosis
- Documentation with cause of death listed (if applicable)
It is not necessary to have these documents to begin, but they may help you answer our questions. Common questions include:
- Who was diagnosed, when and with what asbestos-related disease?
- What is the victim’s work history? Military service history?
- Has the victim ever done any home or automobile repair work?
- Has anyone else in your family ever worked around asbestos?
- Once our Case Manager gathers the necessary information, we will determine whether or not it’s possible to investigate a claim on your behalf. If we are able to proceed, we will send a member of our Trial Team to meet with you in person — usually within 24 hours.
During the in-person visit, our Trial Team Member will:
Answer any of your remaining questions. If there’s anything we can’t answer, we’ll put you in touch with someone who can — often over the phone during that same visit.
- Guide you through the documents we need you to sign, including medical, Social Security and military authorization forms. We will also explain the fee agreement, describing how we get paid. There is no cost for this meeting, or any meeting or phone call with our mesothelioma law firm. We only get paid if you receive money.
- Gather additional details regarding your medical and work history. It will be helpful for you to have these documents handy during our visit.
After you have signed the necessary paperwork, we will:
Review all the information you have provided.
- Assign your claim to a team of mesothelioma lawyers, paralegals, trial team members and other staff — your team.
- Schedule a team introduction within 3 – 10 days and have a team member answer any more questions you may have.
After you have been introduced to your team, we will:
Gather all additional medical records and (if appropriate) retain experts to review the records.
- Investigate (if necessary) the asbestos-containing products that may have caused the disease. With your permission, we’ll ask you or co-workers to help us identify the asbestos-containing products. We’ve often already represented a co-worker or others who have named the products to which you may have been exposed.

- File a claim on your behalf with the help of a mesothelioma lawyer.
- Continue to build the evidence to support your mesothelioma claims.
- Take your testimony. Very rarely does this testimony occur in court. It is usually done at a location that is convenient for you.
If we can resolve your mesothelioma claim for you:
- We’ll advise you of the money offered and only sign off once you have agreed to the terms.
